Giveaway: $35 Jiffy Lube Gift Card

Unfortunately, this giveaway has come to and end. Check back for more fun giveaways soon!

My entire dad's side of my family is in the automobile repair business! I remember when I was very young, visiting the shop and sitting on the car lifts while my dad lifted me up in the air. I thought it was the coolest thing in the world.

With a Dad who repairs cars for a living, you pick up some very important knowledge, like how to change your own car battery, tires, and all that fun stuff. Most importantly though, my Dad has banged into my head that one of the most important ways to save money on your automobile is regular maintenance! You may not realize this (I didn't!), but 9 out of 10 females are actually involved in their family car's maintenance. I always thought that was just my own family, since I had the upper hand on automobile maintenance knowledge!

Motor Oil Matters (created by industry-leading brands Pennzoil, Quaker State and Shell Rotella) is a new website with answers to all those questions you ask like "Does it matter if I change my oil regularly?" and other useful information to help you prolong your engine's life. After failing the M.O.M. Knows Best Quiz, I was enlightened with a lot of information, I just didn't realize.

Now it's your turn to put your knowledge to the test and win your own $35 gift card!

One (1) Lucky In Good Cents reader will win one (1) $35 gift card to Jiffy Lube!

Here is how you get one (1) entry:

• Visit Motor Oil Matters and take the M.O.M. Know Best quiz. Come back and leave a comment with your score to let me know how you did! (My dad would be so disappointed! I failed with a score of 57.14%!)

Here is how you can score up to three (3) extra entries:

• Subscribe to IN Good 'Cents' by e-mail or RSS. Leave a comment to let me know you did it!
• Blog about this give-away and include a link so your readers can enter to win too. Come back here and leave a comment to let me know you've done it with a link to the post.
• Follow IN Good 'Cents' on Twitter and Tweet about this give away. Come back here and leave a comment to let me know you did it!
• Visit Motor Oil Matters and come back here to let me know the most interesting fact you found!

Hurry and Enter Now!

You have until Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at midnight Eastern to get your entries in! A winner will be selected randomly through Random.org and announced here on Thursday, December 10, 2009.

Good Luck Everyone!

Giveaway: Hasbro Elefun Game Night Pack

UNFORTUNATELY, THIS GIVEAWAY HAS ENDED. CHECK BACK SOON FOR MORE FUN GIVEAWAYS!

My family loves game nights! Since our children are still pretty young, we usually spend this time playing Chutes & Ladders, Memory, Candy Land, and other preschool favorites. My daughters are both avid gamers, so they were thrilled when Hasbro and My Blog Spark sent us two new games to try out!

The first one, Scatterpillar Scramble, was by far their favorite. The goal is to place your marbles in the caterpillar's hands while he wiggles and dances. To win, you have to be the first one to fill your caterpillar's hands. It takes some eye-hand coordination. Ady and Izy thought it was hysterical and just giggled as the caterpillar danced away and their marbles rolled across the table.

Our second game was Girafalaff Limbo, which is exactly what it sounds - a limbo game! While my husband and I didn't quite fit under the tiny bar with our not-so-flexible bodies, my girls competed to see who could go the lowest without falling as it sang along.

Now you get to have some fun with your own family and try these games!

ONE LUCKY IN GOOD CENTS READER WILL WIN:

1. 1 Scatterpillar Scramble game
2. 1 Girafalaff Limbo game

Giveaway: An Escape Plan "Proactive Thinking" Series DVD

Unfortunately, this giveaway has ended, but check back soon for another fun giveaway!

As you know, my husband and I headed to the FREE Escape Plan Defense Training Seminar on Wednesday night. I thought I knew what to expect, because I had taken a self defense class in college, but I was surprised.

While my other defense class taught me many moves that were slightly complicated and that I've long since forgotten, this class focused on 3 simple moves that utilized your natural reactions to dangerous situations.

If you have an opportunity to visit An Escape Plan demonstration, I would highly recommend it. One thing that was mentioned was protecting your loved ones. When I visualized standing and someone attacking me, who was behind me that was counting on me? My children and that scares me. And the presenter often mentioned if they get hurt in that situation, it's because I've failed. In this day and age, I don't think it's a bad idea to have a few protective tools in my toolbox, so I won't fail them!

An Escape Plan is coming to large cities across the US to do more FREE demonstrations. If you happen to see on near you, go and check it out! If you aren't lucky enough to have one nearby, you can order their 3-part DVD "Protective Thinking". OR you can try for a chance to win one here!

HOW TO WIN:

Visit An Escape Plan. Check out areas like the "Tips", "Did You Know", and "Crucial Tips". Then come back here and tell me one thing you learned or found interesting.
